Soft porcelain: an innovator in building decoration materials

In the continuous development of building decoration materials, soft porcelain is rapidly rising as a new type of material, bringing new solutions to the field of architecture with its unique performance and advantages.
Soft porcelain is not traditional porcelain, it is mainly made of modified clay (MCM), and through a specially designed temperature control molding system, baking, irradiation cross-linking and other processes, it ultimately becomes a flexible building decorative surface material. Due to its early appearance resembling ceramic tiles, it is called soft porcelain. But the function of soft porcelain goes far beyond that. With the development of technology, it can realistically imitate the colors and textures of various materials such as natural stone, ceramics, wood, leather, knitting, metal plates, etc. It can also create personalized forms of expression according to the designer's creativity.
From a performance perspective, soft porcelain has many unparalleled advantages. Firstly, it has strong water repellency and breathability, and is lightweight, with a thickness of only 2-4mm per piece and a weight of about 3-4kg/m ², which is only one sixth of traditional ceramic tiles. This greatly reduces the load-bearing burden of the building, makes transportation and construction more convenient, and also saves space and cement usage. Secondly, soft porcelain has good flexibility, soft texture, and good extensibility, which can be perfectly combined with the insulation layer and is not easy to fall off. It is also suitable for various shaped buildings, such as circular, elliptical, curved walls, arched columns, etc., providing more creative space for architectural design and breaking through the limitations of traditional ceramic tiles in terms of shape. Moreover, soft porcelain has excellent acid, alkali, freeze-thaw resistance, superior seismic and crack resistance, and good compatibility with external wall insulation systems, which can effectively extend the service life of buildings.
In terms of environmental protection, soft porcelain has shown outstanding performance. Its main raw materials are ordinary urban construction waste soil, cement waste blocks, ceramic slag, stone powder and other inorganic substances. After more than 30 processes of composite modification, it not only realizes the reuse of waste, but also reduces the exploitation of natural resources. The energy consumption and consumables in the production process of soft ceramics are more than 80% lower than those of similar products. The production line uses clean energy such as electricity and solar energy as fuel, avoiding the use of highly polluting raw materials such as coal and heavy oil. The production process has no wastewater, exhaust gas, or dust emissions, and all waste materials can be recycled and reused. Moreover, the radioactive and soluble lead cadmium content of soft porcelain is far below the requirements of environmentally labeled ceramic tiles, and does not contain TVOC. After a certain period of use, it can be completely recycled and processed into new products or reduced into soil for cultivation, truly achieving green environmental protection and recycling.
In terms of construction, soft porcelain also has obvious advantages. Especially in the renovation of old walls or spaces, there is no need to knock off the original old tiles and mosaics. Soft porcelain can be directly pasted on them, greatly shortening the construction period, reducing construction costs, and minimizing the generation of construction waste.
Soft porcelain, as a new type of building decoration material, has many advantages such as environmental protection, energy saving, lightweight, flexibility, rich expressiveness, and convenient construction. It has a wide range of application prospects in high-rise building exterior decoration engineering, building facade decoration engineering, urban old city renovation exterior wall surface materials, exterior insulation system decorative layers, and decorative engineering of anisotropic buildings such as curved walls and arched columns. I believe that with the continuous advancement of technology and the increasing demand for building quality, soft porcelain will play a greater role in the field of architecture, creating more beautiful, comfortable, and environmentally friendly building spaces for us.
